2BXL (Behet Bondzio Lin Architekten 林友寒) designed this 900 square meter urban villa in Taichung, Taiwan. The proposal is an indoor open space, developed through a series of indoor and outdoor atriums that are visually linked through slits between folding plates.
The building is shaped by an exposed concrete plate folding down in segments that becomes ceilings, then walls, then split-level floors inside-out and outside-in.
The interior atrium is a living room around which spaces of various degrees of privacy are experienced. The degree of privacy is not defined by solid wall elements but with ones ascending from disclosure to enclosure. The exterior atrium separates the parents living quarters from the childrens.
