Massimiliano Fuksas在德國 Frankfurt 設計的百貨公司 MyZeil
MyZeil, one of Europe's most spectacular and modern shopping centres opened in Frankfurt the 26th of February 2009. More than 80 stores in a total area of about 77,000 square metres offer a multitude of inviting opportunities to shop, eat and enjoy. In the words of Petra Roth, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt, at the opening ceremony: 'The extraordinary architecture of MyZeil is a new landmark in our city.' Passersby and guests of the opening were fascinated by the acrobats of the Vertical Ballet and the Flying Drummers who presented a spectacular show on the glass facade of the complex.
MyZeil adds a new dimension to shopping on the Zeil. With an incomparable variety of leading national and international brands, each of the eight levels invites customers into various theme worlds: For instance, the 'Walk of Young Fashion', with brands like Fossil and Accessorize, is designed to attract a predominantly young and trend-oriented target group. The 'International Place' is where to find fashion labels from around the globe, and is home to prominent brands like Pepe Jeans London, Replay, Hilfiger Denim and G-Star. In the theme world 'Sports & Leisure', customers can find shops like Marlboro Classics, Napapijri, Peak Performance and The North Face offering everything for the friends of sport, leisure activities and adventure. The 'Media World' is an absolute paradise for the fans of high-tech and electronic media. 'The ranges offered are located at a level between Goethestrasse and Zeil. In fact, several brands are now represented in Frankfurt for the very first time, explained Michael L. Flesch, the Managing Director of MAB Development Deutschland GmbH.
The key tenants of MyZeil are the menswear store Anson's, s.Oliver, REWE, Saturn, the exclusive fitness club Fitness First, the indoor play area complex Vizz and the health centre Lifedome. 'The retail world has welcomed our concept with open arms. The shop units are almost 100 percent leased', reported a satisfied Steffen Höhn, Director of Retail & Marketing at MAB Development Deutschland GmbH.
MyZeil is much more than shopping and window shopping
In addition to the enormous range of products, the new shopping and experience worlds also offer a wide variety of gastronomic, fitness and fun opportunities for the whole family. For example, visitors can enjoy the flair of the whole wide world in the Gastro-Boulevard. Restaurants, bars and snack-islands located directly under the vaulted glass roof offer high-quality culinary delights of all kinds. And while they enjoy the international specialities, guests can let their gaze roam over the Frankfurt skyline views.
The truly new aspect of the MyZeil shopping centre is the combination of a broad range of products with fitness opportunities and services. On just over 5,000 square metres of floor space, immediately beneath the curving glass roof, Fitness First presents a unique fitness club. Its extraordinary atmosphere is enhanced by a generously dimensioned pool and spa area and a spectacular rooftop patio with skyline vistas.
Vizz, the indoor play area complex, enables families to combine shopping and leisure activities and fun. With over 1,000 square metres of space on two levels, Vizz offers its guests spacious play areas, a relaxing lounge, a restaurant and various party areas. The Vizz Kidz Club is the ideal place for children aged 4-12 whose parents prefer to do their shopping alone.
The new PalaisQuartier parking facilities, directly under the building complex, are open 24 hours every day. The basement garage, which is operated by APCOA, is the largest inner city parking facility in Frankfurt. It offers 1,390 parking spaces, 900 of which are designated for public use. The four levels are equipped with the latest features, are spacious and well lit. Access to parking is available from Grosse Eschenheimer Strasse and the Inner Frankfurt Cityring.
Innovative architecture
With its multi-faceted levels, exciting lines and unusual perspectives, the shopping centre, designed by the Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas, documents a new dimension in contemporary architecture and reflects the intrinsic experience of MyZeil. The 47-metre Expressway is Germany's longest unsupported interior escalator and carries visitors from the ground floor to the fourth level in about 120 seconds. From there, the horizon opens with a panoramic view of the Frankfurt skyline spanned by a unique roof construction of variously sized and textured glass panels. Light and transparency, the near and the far – the new dimension of shopping, pleasure and experience in the centre of Frankfurt.
In the heart of Frankfurt
MyZeil is located on the Zeil, one of the most highly frequented shopping boulevards in Europe, with approx. 14.000 visitors every hour. The catchment area of the new shopping centre is extremely promising: Frankfurt alone has a residential population of 650,000 and a daily influx of more than 300,000 commuters, as well as numerous tourists and business visitors. The Rhine-Main region has an overall population of 5.5 million and possesses enormous purchasing power. MyZeil makes its own contribution: The opening of the shopping centre creates almost 1,000 new jobs.
