由隈研吾建築都市設計事務所（Kengo Kuma & Associates）操刀的全新文化中心，落腳於瑞士知名阿爾卑斯山度假勝地韋爾比耶（Verbier），預計於2031年正式開放，內部規劃了一座擁有約八百個座位的音樂廳，以及一座作為居民、藝術家與訪客非正式交流場所的廣場空間。建築設計在周圍聳立的山巒之間保持低調且相互融合的姿態。

這項計畫是華德巴涅（Val de Bagnes）推動韋爾比耶轉型為永續且全年皆具吸引力之山城目標的重要一環，讓文化與體育共同成為當地的發展核心。

除了主要的表演大廳外，文化中心還規劃了約一百二十個座位的迷你展演廳、藝術藝廊、兒童專用空間、咖啡館以及全天候開放的公共區域，使其比起季節性的地標建築，更像是一座溫馨的阿爾卑斯山公共客廳。

隈研吾的設計概念取自周邊山脈的起伏輪廓以及瓦萊州傳統木屋的深簷語彙，層次分明的木造屋頂升降起伏並向外延伸，覆蓋於下方的玻璃量體之上，勾勒出在基地上展開的流暢天際線。寬敞的飛簷為入口和戶外動線提供了遮蔽，同時柔化了建築、景觀與村落之間的交界。

建築外觀採用緊密排列的木構件，賦予立面通透的韻律感，在過濾視野與自然光線的同時，也巧妙地調和了大型文化場館的量體感。主音樂廳旨在成為具備國際級聲學標準的場地，而較小的空間則能支援工作坊、青少年計畫、展覽與小型演出。

這座由私人出資、位於 Chemin des Marais Verts 市有土地上的計畫，預計在完成相關規劃與劃分程序後，於2028年至2029年間動工。若施工順利，將在2031年正式啟用，成為當地全新的公民與藝術樞紐，為滑雪季結束後的韋爾比耶帶來持續的文化與經濟活力。

阿爾卑斯山滑雪勝地要迎來全新文化地標了！隈研吾建築事務所為瑞士韋爾比耶（Verbier）設計了一座絕美的文化中心，預計 2031 年開幕。
這座建築沒有刻意蓋得高大搶眼，而是用羽翼般的層疊木造屋頂，向傳統瓦萊州木屋的深簷致敬。外牆用密集的木構件過濾陽光，讓整座建築溫柔地融入大自然。
裡面除了有一座 800 席的國際級音樂廳，還有 120 席的小展演廳、藝廊、咖啡館跟兒童空間。這不只是看表演的地方，更像是一座四季都開放的「阿爾卑斯公共客廳」，讓大家在滑雪季結束後，依然有理由留下來感受山城的文化魅力！
The project forms part of Val de Bagnes’ ambition to develop Verbier as a sustainable, year-round mountain destination, with culture joining sport as one of its defining pillars. Beyond its main performance hall, the center is planned to include a smaller auditorium of around 120 seats, an art gallery, spaces for children, a café, and publicly accessible areas intended to remain active throughout the day. In other words, it is less a seasonal cultural trophy and more an Alpine living room.
Kengo Kuma’s cultural center in Switzerland is defined by layered timber roofs
Kuma’s design draws from the profiles of the surrounding mountains and the deep eaves of traditional Valais chalets without turning either into a literal costume. Layered timber roofs rise, dip, and extend beyond the glazed volumes below, producing a silhouette that appears to unfold across the site. Their generous overhangs shelter entrances and outdoor circulation while softening the transition between the building, its landscaped surroundings, and the village.
Closely spaced wooden elements give the exterior a porous rhythm, filtering views and daylight while breaking down the scale of the extensive cultural program. Instead of containing every function inside one imposing volume, the proposal reads as a collection of spaces gathered beneath a shared roofscape. The principal concert hall is intended to become an international reference for acoustics, while the smaller rooms will support workshops, youth programs, exhibitions, and more intimate performances.
The Verbier Cultural Center is planned to host multidisciplinary programming throughout the year, welcoming both the local community and the international audience already drawn to the resort. Its wider mission frames art as a tool for exchange, education, and social connection, but the project also has a rather practical task: helping Verbier remain culturally and economically active beyond its ski season. Culture, it seems, is being asked to carry more than the occasional cello case.
The privately funded project is planned for municipal land at Chemin des Marais Verts, with construction provisionally expected to begin between 2028 and 2029 following the necessary planning and zoning procedures. Should the current schedule hold, the center will open in 2031 as a new civic and artistic anchor for Val de Bagnes — offering one more reason to stay in Verbier after the boots, poles, and questionable après-ski decisions have been put away.
