Macchiato(瑪奇朵)是由 OUT Architecture 為 2026 年倫敦建築節（London Festival of Architecture）設計的公共空間作品，坐落於倫敦最具活力與多元文化特色的 Petticoat Lane 街區，位於 The Colombian Coffee Company 門前。

這項計畫將原本容易被忽略的都市角落，轉化為日常生活中讓人停下腳步、聚會與交流的溫馨場所。

受到喝咖啡過程的啟發，Macchiato 的命名是出自於咖啡杯在桌面上留下的圓形印痕，將人們習以為常的痕跡變成設計的起點，由 Red Collective 與 Jamps Studio 共同製作出圓形的座椅元素。

除了直接呼應咖啡文化之外，圓形也讓人聯想到人類最古老的互動方式：圍繞著共同的中心聚集，分享故事、經驗與情感連結。
基地所處位置在倫敦的身分認同扮演著關鍵角色，Petticoat Lane 在歷史上一直由市集、勞工社群以及接連而來的移民潮所塑造，成為不同文化、傳統與日常相遇相互重疊的地方。
因此，Macchiato 為這段集體歷史增添了新層次，創造出一個非正式的聚集點，強化了街道作為交流場所的角色。

所使用的材料加強了裝置與周圍環境的對話：礫石表面的溫暖色調同時讓人聯想到咖啡與街區的紅磚立面，使新設元素自然融入既有的都市紋理中；氧化鋼製成的植栽槽引入了永恆與記憶感，不銹鋼座椅則在工業特色與人體尺度之間創造出當代對話。

由 LINDA 的 Susanna Grant 與 Sholey Garden and Design 的 Will Sholey 共同開發的植栽景觀，將綠意與生物多樣性引入密集的都市環境，把街角轉化為更加柔和且具親和力的空間。不同色調的礫石微妙地呼應了咖啡生產的各個階段，從生豆到日常儀式中共享的成品咖啡。

Macchiato 不提倡大尺度的改造介入，而是以微型建築手法探索如何重塑公共空間的感知與使用方式。透過簡單的圓形構件、與在地脈絡連結的材料配色，以及停下腳步互動的邀請，展現出臨時建築作為社交連結與歸屬感催化劑的巨大潛力。

咖啡杯在桌上留下的印痕，竟然能變成倫敦街頭最溫暖的口袋公園！
OUT Architecture 為 2026 倫敦建築節打造的「Macchiato」口袋公園，位於倫敦超有歷史與多元文化特色的 Petticoat Lane。設計師以咖啡杯放在桌上留下的圓形印痕為靈感，打造了圓形的金屬座位區，邀請大家像古老部落一樣，圍成一圈聊天、分享生活。
占地只有 120 平方公尺的街角，鋪滿了像咖啡豆色調一樣的暖色礫石，配上氧化鋼植栽槽與不銹鋼座椅，還種滿了各種綠色植物。這裡不只把死角變綠洲，更讓路過的人能隨時停下腳步，喝杯咖啡、與陌生人聊聊天，用小小的建築設計為城市找回人情味！
Macchiato is a public space designed by OUT Architecture for the London Festival of Architecture 2026, located in front of The Colombian Coffee Company along Petticoat Lane, one of London's most vibrant and culturally diverse streets. The project transforms an overlooked urban corner into a place for gathering, conversation, and pause within the everyday life of the city.
Inspired by the ritual of sharing coffee, Macchiato takes its name from the circular mark left by a coffee cup on a surface. This familiar trace becomes the starting point for the design of a circular seating element, fabricated by Red Collective & Jamps Studio. Beyond its direct reference to coffee culture, the circle recalls one of the oldest forms of human interaction: gathering around a common center to share stories, experiences, and moments of connection.
The project's location plays a fundamental role in its identity. Petticoat Lane has historically been shaped by markets, working communities, and successive waves of migration, becoming a place where different cultures, traditions, and everyday encounters overlap. Macchiato adds a new layer to this collective history, creating an informal meeting point that strengthens the street's role as a space of exchange.
Material choices reinforce the dialogue between the installation and its surroundings. The warm tones of the gravel surface evoke both coffee and the brick facades of the neighborhood, allowing the intervention to blend naturally into the existing urban fabric. Oxidised steel planters introduce a sense of permanence and memory, while the stainless steel seating elements create a contemporary contrast between industrial character and human scale.
The planting strategy, developed by Susanna Grant of LINDA and Will Sholey of Sholey Garden and Design, introduces greenery and biodiversity into a dense urban environment, transforming the corner into a softer and more welcoming space. The different shades of gravel subtly reference the various stages of coffee production, from the raw bean to the final cup shared in daily rituals.
Rather than proposing a large-scale intervention, Macchiato explores how small architectural gestures can reshape the perception and use of public space. Through a simple circular element, a material palette connected to its context, and an invitation to stop and interact, the project highlights the potential of temporary architecture as a catalyst for social connection and belonging.
